Change is in the air at the Indian Journal of Cancer. We are pleased to inform you that Dr. Vinay Deshmane is the new Editor, while Sanjay A Pai steps in as Executive Editor. Prof. Anita M Borges is the Editor Emeritus.

We thank Dr. Kumar Prabhash, the outgoing editor for his contributions to the journal over the past few years and look forward to his continuing support. We are also grateful to the members of the editorial board for their advice and suggestions.

While the focus of the journal will remain the same - clinical oncology - we hope to have other columns which are related to the broad field of cancer medicine. Thus, we hope to receive articles on History of medicine as related to cancer; ethics, book reviews, images and other areas. The success of these columns will depend upon you; we await your articles as well as letters to the editor opining on these and other matters.

The journal hopes to be relevant to both, the senior oncologist as well as the trainee in the field. Oncology - like all other fields of science - is making rapid strides and it is quite impossible to keep in touch with all that one is supposed to know. We also hope to soon initiate a series of articles that would educate the reader about some of these breakthroughs.

The instructions to authors column is in the process of being modified to reflect some of these ideas. Nothing is written in stone and we expect to keep changing with the times. We look forward to hearing from you, be they bouquets or brickbats. The success of a journal depends as much on its readers and their opinions as it does on its authors and the editors.

This issue has articles on important topics such as 'Barriers affecting adherence to radiation treatment and strategies to overcome them'; on 'Colorectal cancer in first two decades of life'; 'MR imaging in squamous carcinoma of the tongue' etc.

Do read on....

Sanjay A Pai, Vinay Deshmane and Anita M Borges
